According to an Accenture 2007 study carried out in France, the USA, Great Britain, Australia, Brazil, Canada and China.
To achieve the classification, a hotel must obtain a result superior or equal to 90% of the criteria grid during the certification audit, as well as the approbation of the Validation Committee. The certification becomes effective 30 days after the audit.
The grid is composed by over 800 criteria analyzing every step of a clients stay; from the reservation until the check out.

The reference system and the criteria grid have been published by the official register since the year 2004.
The certification process ensures an ongoing quality management system throughout 3 years.
During this time span, 2 audits and 4 mystery visits take place.
These regular controls ensure an implementation of the set quality standards.

Two audits:
Two audits take place at your premises: one at the beginning of the process analyzes the status quo and verifies the level of service quality and the second audit follows 18 months later.
These audits take place during an incognito stay, throughout which the criteria grid is reviewed in detail. After the check out of the incognito quality auditor a debriefing takes place with the hotelier.

Four mystery visits:
In alternation with the audits, 4 mystery visits take place every 6 months. During the mystery stays, the evaluation grid is being reviewed and a report is being submitted by Excel Place afterwards.
